Wi-Fi that is strong in the lounge and useless in the back bedroom is one of the most common complaints we hear. The good news is there are a few proven ways to fix it, and one popular one that mostly is not worth it.
Before spending anything, try moving the router. Out of the cupboard, off the floor, and somewhere central and high. It sounds too simple, but router placement makes a bigger difference than most people expect.
A mesh system uses two or three units spread through the house that work as one network. You stay connected as you move around, with no dead spots and no separate network to switch to. For most homes, this is the best fix.
If a cable can be run, a wired access point at the far end of the house gives rock-solid coverage with no speed loss. It is the strongest option of all where the layout allows it.
Cheap Wi-Fi extenders can help a little, but they usually create a second network you keep dropping off, and they often halve the speed. They are a last resort, not a first choice.
We design and install mesh Wi-Fi across Logan homes and can get every room covered properly.
